President

candidate-StaceyStone-Semmler Stacey Stone-Semmler
Profession: Attorney
From: Ketchikan, Alaska

Stacey Stone Semmler was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska and is a third generation Alaskan. Stacey has been involved in Republican politics and campaigns her entire life and has been a registered Republican in Alaska since the age of 18.

In 2004, Stacey was chosen as a page by the Alaska Republican Party to attend the National Convention in New York. In 2012, after relocating to Anchorage, Stacey was elected to the position of vice chair of District 21 (District 19) and was reelected to that position in 2014.

In the fall of 2012, Stacey joined the Anchorage Republican Women’s Club. In 2013-2014 Stacey served on the board in a fundraising capacity.  Prior to her involvement in the ARWC, Stacey was a member of the First City Republican Women.  At the State Convention in 2014, Stacey served as a co-chair of the law and judiciary committee.

Stacey has worked on and assisted with campaigns for Ted Stevens, Frank Murkowski, Lisa Murkowski, Don Young, Robin Taylor, Jim Elkins, Sean Parnell, Anand Dubey, George Nethercutt, and Dino Rossi.

Stacey is passionate about the foundational beliefs that many of us share and those that unite us as a party.  She believes in limited government and strong family values.  Stacey appreciates the recent changes that were made to the State Party Platform in order to better define the issues and allow everyone to come into the big tent.

Being in the middle of her two sisters, Stacey knows what it is like to not always agree on everything but how at the end of the day to find the strengths in one another and support the family.  Stacey believes strongly in empowering people by lessening their reliance on government and allowing people to accept personal responsibility for their victories and their mistakes.

Following her graduation from high school, Stacey attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington where she obtained her BA in Political Science and Sociology with a concentration in crime and deviance.  Following graduation from PLU, Stacey attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington where she obtained her Juris Doctor degree.

Stacey is currently employed as an attorney in Anchorage.  She is involved in her church on the council and is one of the leaders of the high school youth group.  She is also an active member of the Downtown Anchorage Rotary Club.  In her free time, Stacey enjoys spending time with her husband Matt and their two dogs, cooking in the kitchen, and enjoying the outdoors in Kincaid Park.

Vice President

candidate-PortiaWatsonNoble Portia Watson Noble
Profession: Political Science
From: Anchorage, Alaska

My name is Portia Watson Noble, and I am a first generation Alaskan. Once turning eighteen in 2008, I strongly took it upon myself to get involved in both state and national politics.

Along with the education of a Political Science degree, I joined and later chaired the Alaska chapter of the College Republican National Committee. Because of this leadership position, I was able to engage both the student body and local voters. This included candidate and policy forums, campus activism and political education, assisting candidate and incumbents with door knocking and literature drops.

As a result of my activism, I have gained a great deal of knowledge and would like to continue my engagement by being a representative on the Anchorage Republican Women Clubs board.

Secretary

ardy2 Ardy Robertson
Occupation: English Teacher & Business Owner
From: Anchorage, Alaska

I am a high school English teacher, owner of a small business (Ardy Cakes & Confections), wife and active church member.

As a committed Christian woman, I firmly adhere to all tenets of the Republican Party platform. I believe that life begins at conception, in traditional marriage and fiscal responsibility.

I have been an involved member of the Anchorage Republican Women’s Club for over a decade, serving on the board of directors in various capacities:

  • Special Events Chair
  • Fundraising Chair
  • Vice President

My history of volunteering with campaigns is extensive; I have assisted assembly, mayoral, house, senate, gubernatorial, congressional and presidential candidates on their races by donating my time, money and energy. I look forward to continued service with ARWC.

Assistant Secretary

candidate-TurquoiseHenry Turquoise Henry
Occupation: Financial Services
From: Manassas, Virginia

I’m the wife of an Anchorage Police Department SWAT Sergeant and the mother of two, a 15 year old son and an 11 year old daughter. My career is in insurance and finance as a Financial Services Professional at New York Life. I was born and raised in Virginia, but I moved to Alaska going on 5 years ago to make Anchorage my “forever home.”

While I’ve always considered myself conservative, having participated in several Second Amendment events since 2000, I’ve increased my involvement within the Republican Party since about 2008. I’m relatively new to the ARWC, and look forward to helping out wherever I can. So far, I have helped with making calls for upcoming events and with the annual fashion show. I’ve also helped on the Parnell campaign for Governor, manning the booth at the State Fair.

I support the Republican Party Platform, and enjoy helping the strong, thoughtful, empowered women of the ARWC. I look forward to increasing my involvement in the group and getting the message out about the benefits of the Republican Party – especially to women.

Treasurer

julie Julie Papasavas
Occupation: Accountant & Business Owner
From: Anchorage, Alaska

Thank you for considering me for the position of Treasurer for Anchorage Republican Women’s Club (ARWC) for 2015- 2017.  I have served as the current treasurer for ARWC for one term,  2012 – 2014, and I would like to continue as Treasurer for ARWC for an additional 2 year term.

Over the last 2 years, I have moved all of the accounting for the ARWC into QuickBooks accounting program. This has led to easier reporting for APOC purposes, and more efficient and timely financials for the Board.

I own my own accounting practice, I have the flexibility and time commitment to continue as Treasurer.

I fully support the Alaska Republican Party platform, I am a Conservative Republican , and I am Pro Life.  I have proudly volunteered time on various Republican campaigns:

  • Volunteer, Parnell/Sullivan 2014 campaign (since May 2014)
  • Treasurer, No on 2 Big Marijuana Big Mistake campaign
  • Volunteer, Mia Costello’s Senate campaign (fundraisers & door-to-door)
  • Volunteer, Liz Vazquez House campaign (fundraisers)

I am currently the District 22 Bonus Vote, and I have attended the last two State Central Committee Meeting to represent my district, and attended the Alaska Republican Party Convention in May 2014.

I would be honored to continue as Treasurer for ARWC for the 2015 – 2017 term.  Thank you for your consideration.

Assistant Treasurer

candidate-JennyMcConnell Jennifer McConnel
Profession: Human Resources & Political Science
From: Redford, Michigan

Government and politics have been an interest of mine since high school. In 2003 I did an internship in Washington D.C. with the late Senator Ted Stevens. In 2008 did a legislative internship with Representative Paul Seaton.

I have an associate degree in Paralegal Studies and a bachelor degree in Political Science. My involvement in politics between 2009 and 2013 was limited to researching candidates and sharing what I learned with interested family and friends. In early 2013 I began attending meetings, then eventually joining the North Pole Republican Women’s Club.

I joined ARWC shortly after moving to the Anchorage area in 2013. Since joining ARWC, my involvement has included attending luncheons, assisting in obtaining donations for Lincoln day, volunteering with the RNC with the phone bank and door knocking, as well as assisting with other ARWC campaign support activities as requested. I also became a registrar which enabled me to assist Alaskans in becoming eligible voters.

I enjoy participating in the ARWC, as it expands my knowledge of important issues facing us today. I meet strong-minded women with similar views to my own, and am able to make a more profound impact supporting candidates and increasing voter turnout through participating in ARWC activities.

Originally from Michigan, I lived in North Pole from 2000 through 2013, and currently live in Girdwood. I enjoy hiking mountains and downhill mountain biking. I am currently learning how to snowboard and ski. In my professional life I am a proud employee of ENSTAR Natural Gas Company, working in Human Resources. Some of my strongest skills include organization, project coordination, and managing logistics.

I look forward to working with ARWC.

Thank you for stepping up to serve ARWC!
